Your gift will bring theatre to the World...
Donate to LATW and your gift can help fund new recordings of plays that will be enjoyed by audiences across the U.S. and worldwide through our free weekly radio show, podcasts and online streaming. Our titles are also available in over 13,000 community libraries, and more than 10,000 students are given a free title each year through programs such as SYNC, an annual free summer audiobook program for teens 13 and over.
...and to the Classroom
Our Setting the Stage for Learning program is designed with educators in mind to bring free audio recordings of important stage plays to middle and high schools around the world, harnessing the power of professional theatre to deepen students’ understanding of complex literature and subject content.
Educator Testimonial:
"For my sophomore English class, we do a drama unit that consists of Julius Caesar and 12 Angry Men. Part of the final assessment deals with elements of drama as well as acting out scenes from various parts of the play. Using the 12 Angry Men recording from L.A. Theatre Works is great because the students are able to listen to the plot events unfold to aid in their basic comprehension, but it also allows them to hear the emotions behind the words. This gives them the ability to inject emotion into the scenes they act out in class. I have found that if the students can hear a play being acted out, they understand it much better than trying to read it themselves out loud on the first try. Plus, they tend to be more engaged with the material, which is sometimes a battle in a Language Arts class!"
